As most people are now aware, there has been great upset in our community recently over the threatened closure of our Paddling Pool.
The council has now given us a 1 year reprieve and so the pool will be filled this year!!
Thank you to everyone who helped collect signatures for the petition. The fight is not yet over however. The council have suggested that communities take on the responsibility of the paddling pool from next year.
There will be a public meeting in Llys Glanymor on May 9th at 11am to discuss the way forward. Nia Griffiths MP will be in attendance along with Llanelli Town Mayor Hubert Hitchman.
Please come along!!

Family fun at the Carnival 2008
FUN IN THE SUN...
THE SEASIDE WAY!
THE SEASIDE WAY!
During the carnival last year, Family Forum volunteers took to centre stage, (or field as the case may be), and encouraged families to join in with family games. We all had a lot of fun, and the fancy dress costumes helped to make it even more laughable!

A simple game to keep us fit whilst having fun
Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle!
Litter Litter Everywhere!
Everyone loves our playing fields, and so we like to make sure they stay clean and tidy. After last year's carnival, volunteers turned up to help clear away any left over rubbish. They worked really hard and we'd like to thank Keep Wales Tidy for giving us a hand.
Walrus Dip 2008
Boxing Day 2008, and all the mad people of Llanelli descended upon Cefn Sidan for the annual Walrus Dip. Joining them was 12 year old Holly Yeo, who this year took part to raise money for the Seaside Family Forum. Well Done Holly..........and Thank you, your braver than us!

After seeing how far she would have to run to get the sea, Holly had second thoughts!!!
Santa visits Seaside
When the weather is bad and the reindeer go on strike....
The Seaside Santa Sleigh comes out to save the day.
One beautiful rainy evening in December 2008,
when it was too wet for carols to be sung and festivities to be enjoyed,
Santa and his helpers took selection boxes to every corner of Seaside on his sleigh,
well, to 6 designated Santa points !
Rain did not stop the team from visiting children and young people of our community....
WATCH this space for this years Festive Fun!
Any more good ideas let us know!

Ho Ho Ho...

Just enough for every good girl and boy!

Santa's little helper braves the weather... and boy was it cold!
Bonfire, Fun and Treason!
November 5th 2008 and the air was filled with expectation! The wood arrived by the lorryload, the safety barriers up, the small fair ride set up, eager children dressed in their woolies all excitededly awaiting Seaside's Bonfire and Firework Display.

The bonfire was impressive! The Family Forum were congratulated by the Fire Service and Community Police for putting on a safe and well organised display.
Families looked on with enjoyment as the fireworks lit up the sky! Families from all over Glanymor and Tyisha came to Seaside that night. Some even brought picnics!
Says it all !!

The safe wood aarived and piled neatly by the experts from Owens into the Bonfire!

A HUGE thank you to all volunteers who helped put on a fantastic community, family, safe, Fireworks and Bonfire Display. With special thanks to Owens, Seaside Community Association and Seaside Cafe who were the main sponsors of the event and to all other businesses and organisations who kindly gave donations to make the event possible.
We'd also like to thank Llanelli Town Parks department, Communities First, St. Johns Ambulance and the Neighbourhood Police Team.
Most importantly, we'd like to thank everyone in the community for coming along and supporting the event!

Wembley here we come!
Seaside Family Forum and young members of the community braved the chilly weather on a November Sunday afternoon for a fun family game of football at Crown Park Seaside. It was adults versus children in a match where the only rule was to have fun! The game was won by the children 9 - 8 and all children taking part were given a selection pack for their efforts. Thanks to everyone who took part and made the afternoon an enjoyable one and to Seaside Community Association who provided insurance cover.

He's got the ball, he shoots, he scoooores!!!!!!!!
Seaside Family Forum makes a Splash on Play Day 2008!
PLAYDAY 2008 UNWRAPS THE COTTON WOOL
FROM CHILDREN’S PLAY
FROM CHILDREN’S PLAY
Playday, supported by Persil, is the annual celebration of children’s right to play – held on Wednesday 6 August 2008. This year’s theme – Give us a go! It called for a reverse in the decline of adventurous play opportunities - be it banning conkers in the playground or outlawing tree climbing. The campaign highlights the need for children to experience challenging play to ensure they are better equipped to manage risk in their daily lives.
Hundreds of fantastic events took place across the UK to celebrate Playday. In SEASIDE, Llanelli- Playday was in Crown Park. Attractions on offer included water play, den building, junk modelling, sports and splish splashing in the rain!! Over seventy adults and children age one up to seventy turned out to have fun despite the weather.
Maria Austin a local parent and play trainer stated: This year we wanted to help children release the bubble wrap protection and just play! Challenging and adventurous play is integral to children’s development and helps them to grow up as happy and confident individuals.’ Children of seaside deserve that chance. Seaside Family Forum would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a success.
